Sandra Ricart and Serena Tagliacozzo are members of CROSS-CASCADE (COST Action CA24163 – Modelling Cross-Sectoral Cascading Climate Impacts on Europe to Design Coherent Policy Responses), a European research network funded by COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology). The Action brings together researchers and practitioners from across Europe to advance the understanding of how climate change impacts propagate across sectors, regions, and countries through interconnected systems such as trade, finance, migration, and supply chains.

Sandra Ricart is a member of Working Group 3 (Coherent Policies for Adaptation to Cross-Sectoral, Cascading Climate Impacts) and Working Group 4 (Storylines and Policy Simulations for Understanding Cascading Climate Impacts). Serena Tagliacozzo is a member of Working Group 4 and she has been awarded a Short-Term Scientific Mission (STSM) to undertake a two-week research stay at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, promoting collaboration and knowledge exchange on cascading climate risks and climate adaptation. During her stay, Serena will learn more about the methodologies to support decision-making and policy development under conditions of radical uncertainty and multirisk and will collaborate with Prof. Marleen De Ruiter and her team to incorporate risk-related cognitive and behavioral dimensions into these methodologies in order to devise better climate adaptation policies.

The involvement of BERLIN researchers in CROSS-CASCADE strengthens synergies for interdisciplinary collaboration to develop harmonized datasets, common modeling protocols, and integrated approaches for assessing cascading climate risks, ultimately supporting the design of coherent and evidence-based climate adaptation policies across Europe.
